We’re working with a national construction and maintenance business that looks after a large network of retail and commercial sites across NSW. They’re after a qualified carpenter or shopfitter who’s handy with signage to join their Sydney team.
Most of the work is refurbishing and rebranding existing sites. One week it’s framing up a new shopfront and fixing cladding, the next it’s fitting out a store and getting the new signage up. You’ll be on the tools every day, and you’ll often be the one keeping the site moving, working alongside subbies and other trades who know what they’re doing.
What you’ll be doing
- Carpentry and shopfitting, including framing, wall and ceiling linings, cabinetry, joinery, doors and hardware
- Lightweight framing for shopfront façades and fixing ACM and NCP cladding
- Installing signage, including building signs, fascias and panels
- Building to drawings and brand standards
- Site measures and inspections
- Leading smaller jobs and keeping subcontractors on track
- Working on live, trading sites, so setting up safe work areas around staff and the public
- Photos, daily records and close out paperwork on a tablet
What you’ll need
- Qualified carpenter or shopfitter (Cert III in Carpentry, Shopfitting or Joinery)
- 2+ years post trade in commercial fit out, shopfitting or carpentry
- Construction White Card
- Current driver’s licence
- Happy to travel for regional jobs, usually no more than two weeks at a time
Signage installation experience is a big plus. So is experience running small jobs, an EWP or forklift licence, Working at Heights, or First Aid.
