Production Designer | Signage | Perth

About the Role

A production artwork role within a busy signage operation. You’ll be translating approved client visuals sourced from construction drawings, branding guides, and site surveys into fully production-ready file packs across multiple departments.

This is not a concept or creative design role. The focus is on accuracy, efficiency, and production knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

Artwork & File Preparation

  • Convert approved visuals into detailed production artwork in line with the Artwork SOP
  • Prepare print-ready PDFs, CNC cut paths, laser files, vinyl cut/weeding files, and fabrication drawings
  • Apply correct dimensions, materials, illumination specs, and installation methods
  • Pre-flight all artwork for colour consistency, scale, bleed, and production accuracy
  • Issue files to pre-press within 24 hours of final approval

File Management

  • Maintain SharePoint folder structure, version control, and file naming conventions
  • Cross-check all artwork against quotes and site surveys before handover
  • Flag scope changes or missing inputs early and support the variation process

Vinyl Production

  • Create cut files for cast vinyl
  • Operate a small-format vinyl plotter for in-house runs
  • Label rolls ready for assembly and log media usage

Continuous Improvement

  • Record KPI data including turnaround times and error rates (target < 5%)
  • Contribute to template updates
  • Participate in monthly toolbox meetings with pre-press and production teams

What You’ll Need

  • 3+ years signage production artwork experience
  • Advanced CorelDRAW and Adobe Illustrator skills
  • Experience with SignLab and Photoshop
  • Strong understanding of CNC routing, acrylic laser cutting, and vinyl plotting/weeding
  • Solid knowledge of sign materials, substrates, fixings, and illumination methods
  • SharePoint and version control discipline
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills for internal team and client liaison

The Detail

  • $35–$40 per hour plus super (flexibility depending on experience)
  • Overtime paid at 1.5x penalty rates
  • Full time permanent position
