About the Role:
Our client is seeking an experienced Foreman Carpenter with a hands-on approach, a keen eye for detail, and a background in new builds. This role is ideal for a skilled carpenter looking to transition towards project management, balancing hands-on remedial work with overseeing projects and managing trade schedules. The successful candidate will work on projects including balcony repairs, waterproofing, façade upgrades, cavity flashings, and other remedial works. You’ll be managing various aspects of site coordination, client communication, and project planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Site Management: Supervise and coordinate trades on-site to ensure smooth workflows and high-quality outcomes. This includes managing weekly schedules, coordinating trades to begin on Mondays, and organising the next trades to follow upon completion.
- Client and Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the main point of contact on-site, providing clients with regular updates on project progress, managing expectations, and fostering strong, positive relationships.
- Job Programming: Organise and oversee job programs to ensure all activities align with project schedules and milestones.
- Hands-On Carpentry: Step in as needed to assist with carpentry and remedial tasks to ensure project timelines and standards are met.
- Collaboration with Leadership: Work closely with the director on project planning and coordination to maintain client satisfaction, and set up schedules for upcoming jobs while managing current projects.
- Office Duties: Spend one day per week in the office to manage job files, assist with pricing, and support project administration.
Requirements:
- Experience: Proven background in residential carpentry, ideally within new builds and remedial works.
- Project Management Skills: Ability to manage job schedules, coordinate trades, and resolve on-site issues independently.
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with remedial construction work or experience in carpentry for new builds.
- Client Management: Strong communication and client management skills, with a proactive and organised approach to both site and office responsibilities.
Benefits:
- Competitive Salary: $90,000 – $110,000 plus superannuation.
- Career Growth: Opportunity to grow into a Project Management role.
- Varied Work: Experience a range of projects across Sydney, including the Eastern Suburbs, Inner West, and CBD, with diverse and challenging projects.
